The startup Slate Auto, one of the investors of which is called the head of Amazon Jeff Bezos, presented the Slate Truck electrical pickup. Work on it has been conducted in stealth mode for the past few years. Buyers will primarily attract the price, which, after deducting the state subsidy, will drop below 20 thousand dollars. At the same time, more than 100 accessories, including SUV Kit, which turns it into a five -seater SUV, will be available for a truck with a two -door Jeep Wrangler.

From the conveyor, the Slate Truck will go in a single version with steel wheels, manual windows and air conditioning. The body of pickups is not painted, but glued with color vinyl film – completely or partially, depends on the wishes of the customer. The absence of an audio system is compensated by the ability to use a Bluetooth column, and the multimedia screen replaces the smartphone or tablet installed in a special cradle.
In the Slate Truck cargo platform there is a standard plywood sheet, plus there is a trunk under two road suitcases. The electric motor installed on the rear axle develops 204 horsepower and 264 nm of torque, allowing to accelerate to 60 miles per hour in 8 seconds. The maximum speed is 145 kilometers per hour. The standard battery (52.7 kV • h) is designed for 240 kilometers of the course, optional (84.3 kWh) – by 386. You can charge a pickup from a variable current column with a capacity of up to 11 kilowatts or constant with an output of 120 kilowatts.
Slate Auto hopes for five stars in the NCAP safety rating, so the electric car will receive an automatic braking system, up to eight pillows, the function of preventing frontal clashes and pedestrian recognition. The start of production is scheduled for the next year, and the company wants to produce up to 150 thousand trucks annually. The first buyers will receive their cars in the fourth quarter of 2026.
