The fastest steam motorcycle covered 402 meters in 5.5 seconds

The fastest motorcycle in the world accelerates to 100 km/h in 0.4 seconds using steam propulsion. Reaching speeds of nearly 200 mph, this steam-powered machine proves that the fastest motorcycles on the planet don’t have to burn fuel. Carscoops reports this.

Sykes, a 62-year-old design engineer from North Yorkshire, created, owns and rides the Force of Nature motorcycle, the fastest accelerating motorcycle in the world. Contrary to expectations, this bike does not run on gasoline, but on steam. It was recently shown in action at the UK’s Santa Pod circuit.

The starting jerk of this motorcycle is amazing: 0.4 seconds to 100 km/h. At 402 meters it accelerated to 310 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Only the jet motorcycle of Frenchman Eric Teboul covered this distance faster – in 4.976 seconds.

Teboul’s race took place in September 2022: he accelerated to 467.5 km/h on a motorcycle powered by hydrogen peroxide. “Force of Nature” performs best over short distances: he covered the eighth mile (201 meters) in 3.17 seconds at a speed of 326.7 km/h, and the distance of 1000 feet (305 meters) in 4.53 seconds at a speed of 310.6 km/h.

Sykes began work on the steam motorcycle in 2022 and has now developed it into its fifth version. He continues to refine and is confident that the 402m time can be improved by another 0.6 seconds, reducing it to less than 5 seconds. At one of the races at the Santa Pod Raceway, Sykes had already improved his result to 5.44 seconds.
