The flow of new foreign cars to Russia has sharply reduced

According to Avtostat, in February 2025, only 16.2 thousand cars were imported into the country, which is not only 73 percent less than in the last winter month of 2024, but also half as much as a month earlier. Analysts note that the import of cars to Russia is declining for the fourth month in a row, and the volumes are so low that over the past few years, only the monthly indicators of March – September 2022 have surpassed.

The leader of imports in February was the Chinese Changan, and among the models-the Uni-S crossover. In the last month of winter, the most cars were imported to Russia from China – their share is 80.9 percent. In second place is Kyrgyzstan (6.6 percent) and the Republic of Belarus (5.2 percent).

Experts find a positive moment in the fall of the import of the import of foreign cars: importers see the volume of cars in warehouses and import them less, which means that the newly brought cars will not put pressure on the drains.

If we talk about mileage cars, then in February they were brought to Russia in the amount of 18.5 thousand pieces. This is 20 percent less than last year and five percent less than in January (19.4 thousand pieces). In this segment, Toyota is outlined, and Honda Freed leads among the models.

The used cars were mainly imported from Japan (53.4 percent), South Korea (20 percent) and China (9.6 percent).
