The Honda Prologue electric crossover will leave the market in 2026 due to falling demand

The Japanese automaker does not plan to release a second generation of the model after the end of the current production cycle in December this year, Carscoops reports.

Honda Prologue appeared in 2024 and initially showed good results. In 2025, the model sold almost 39 thousand copies, helped by tax incentives. However, after their cancellation, demand fell sharply.

At the start of 2026, sales were down about 74% year-over-year. Honda has already cut production plans in half and now expects to sell less than 18 thousand cars this year.

It’s worth noting that Prologue was initially an unusual project for Honda. The crossover is assembled in Mexico at General Motors facilities using its electric platform.

This was a temporary solution to quickly bring the electric car to market while Honda develops its own architecture. At the same time, Acura (Honda’s luxury division) has already curtailed production of its version – the ZDX model – in September last year.

Earlier, Russians were told about serious problems with their cars in the spring.
