The German automaker decided to change the concept after criticism of the hybrid power plant, which is currently equipped with Mercedes-AMG C 63. According to Autocar with reference to its own sources, with the update, which is planned for 2026, the “charged” version of the model will receive a completely new V8 engine.

The new “eight” will be shown before 2026-the first model that will receive this engine will be Mercedes-AMG Cle 63, it is waiting for it at the end of this year. At the same time, there are still no technical details about the V8, except that it will be supplemented with an electric superstructure. According to unofficial data, the Tweringturbo four-liter engine will be taken as the basis, which was thoroughly modified and added a starter-generator integrated into the gearbox.

In a conversation with Motor1.com, the representative of Mercedes-benz confirmed that the development of a new engine was in development, but did not disclose information about it. The car manufacturer intends to bring several models into the market in the foreseeable future, for which new ICEs with the number of cylinders from four to eight are already being created.

Autocar, in turn, writes that the S-Class AMG version with a “soft” hybrid based on V8 is equipped with an artificial sound generator, which is needed in order to strengthen the acoustic sensations of driving.
