BMW has officially unveiled the next generation X5 crossover. The model received five powertrain options: gasoline, diesel, two plug-in hybrids and all-electric. Sales of fuel versions will begin at the end of November, hybrid and electric versions will appear in 2027, and a hydrogen version is planned for 2028. Production starts in August at the plant in Spartanburg (USA).
The new X5 borrows a lot of design cues from models based on the Neue Klasse platform, especially the iX3 crossover. A distinctive feature is the X-shaped head optics, which combines headlights, turn signals and daytime running lights. The door handles are hidden in the pillars, and the two-piece tailgate has been abandoned. Wheels – from 21 to 23 inches. Dimensions: 4994x2000x1748 mm, wheelbase – 3035 mm.
The interior features a 17.9-inch central tablet and a digital panel from pillar to post, and an unusual steering wheel with vertical spokes. A head-up display, a screen for the front passenger (14.6 inches) and a traditional steering wheel are available as options with the M Sport Professional package. The area of the panoramic roof is 2.6 square meters. m. In the Clear and Bold package, the center console is trimmed in slate, the gearshift lever and volume controls are made of glass. All versions are equipped with door closers; an automatic opening and closing function is available for an additional fee.

The new X5 is built on the updated CLAR architecture. The basic version 40 xDrive received a 3.0-liter turbo engine with 400 hp, the diesel 40d xDrive – 313 hp. Both with a 48-volt hybrid unit. Hybrids produce 489 and 612 hp. The electric iX5 60 xDrive with two motors (578 hp) accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, and has a range of up to 845 km (141 kWh battery). The hydrogen version is promised a range of 750 km.
The base includes adaptive shock absorbers; air suspension, a fully controlled chassis and a roll control system are available for an additional fee.
