In March, the leader was replaced in the European rating: they became the UK, where 357 103 new cars were sold. This is 12.4 percent more than a year ago, writes Avtostat with reference to the data of the European Association of Automobiles (ASEA). The country in a month rose at once to four positions, but this is understandable: in early spring, the indicator is traditionally growing due to the change of identifier on local license plates.
Germany, usually occupying the first place, sank into the second. Moreover, the difference is significant: 253,497 cars were sold in the country – 3.9 percent less than in March 2024. Italy is closed by the three leaders of the leaders with 172,303 by sold cars and the market growth by 6.3 percent.
The following is France with the result of 153,842 cars and the most sensitive reduction in demand in the top five – by 14.5 percent. The fifth was Spain, where dealers sold 116,725 cars, improving the result by 23.2 percent compared to the same month of last year.

In Russia, 79,822 new cars were sold. The market for a year fell by 45.5 percent.
While sales of new cars are falling, the secondary market is growing. According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, the Russians bought 1.27 million cars used cars – five times more than new ones. Most of the mileage sold (67 percent) belong to the departed foreign brands.
