The State Duma adopted a law on a single fine per day for car owners without compulsory motor liability insurance

Now the driver will be able to be punished for this violation only once a day, regardless of how it was recorded, RIA Novosti reports.

Initially, it was assumed that the amendments would only affect fines issued by traffic cameras. Current legislation allowed a motorist to be cited for driving without insurance every time a camera was activated during the day, resulting in serial fines. The penalty amount for such a violation is 800 rubles, for a repeated violation – from 3 to 5 thousand rubles.

However, in the final version of the document there is no wording limiting the application of the rule only to cases of recording by cameras. According to the adopted law, now in any circumstances, within 24 hours from the moment the violation is first detected, the driver can be held accountable for lack of compulsory motor insurance only once.

The law will come into force on the date of official publication.

Earlier, the most popular crossovers that Russians are driving from China became known.
