Consumer Reports conducted a survey of owners of 300 thousand cars of various brands produced over the past 25 years. Based on the data, experts rated brands based on several criteria, including owner satisfaction, safety, reliability and road test results. Each company’s final score is an average that takes into account opinions not only about new cars, but also about cars that have been in use for several years.

Analysts attribute Subaru’s success to the brand’s conservative approach to the introduction of new technologies. Unlike competitors, Subaru cars are equipped with fewer different systems, which has a positive effect on their reliability.
The top six of the ranking included exclusively Japanese brands: Subaru was followed by Lexus (65 points), Toyota (62 points), Honda (59 points), Acura and Mazda (55 points each). The bottom lines of the ranking were occupied by Tesla, Volkswagen, Jeep, GMC, Cadillac and the startup Rivian.
