For many months, the favorite foreign car of Russians was the Haval Jolion, but the situation has changed: for the last four weeks, the rating has been headed by Chery crossovers. For three weeks in a row, Tiggo 4 Pro was in first place in terms of sales, and in the period from December 9 to 15, Tiggo 7 Pro became the leader. Jolion fell back in the overall ranking of the most popular models, leaving behind not only the Chery, but also the Lada Niva Travel.

According to Autostat, in the second week of December, 25.2 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 16.5 percent less than the week before. The most popular foreign car during this period was the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max, which sold 1,166 units in seven days. There are only two models higher in the ranking, and both are domestic: Lada Granta (3331 units) and Vesta (1709 units).

Sales went down again: the car market decreased by 17 percent. Russians are buying cars again, expecting a new rise in prices. How many “gray” cars are sold in Russia per month?

Tiggo 7 Pro Max is followed by Tiggo 4 Pro, which was chosen by 1085 Russians. This model remained the most popular foreign car from mid-November to early December. The figures for other models amounted to less than one thousand units, and the top 10 at the end of the 50th week of 2024 also included Lada Niva Travel, Haval Jolion, Lada Largus, Haval M6, Lada Niva Legend and Geely Monjaro.

Over the past two weeks of December, Russians bought 55.2 thousand cars. This is 4.5 percent more than in the same period in November. As for the future prospects of the Russian car market, analysts’ forecasts are pessimistic: they expect sales to fall by more than 20 percent at the end of the month, although demand usually grows in December. Dealers are hoping for an influx of buyers due to the expectation of a new wave of price increases.
