There is not enough money in Russia to repair and maintain roads

Until 2030, the Russian government will allocate 2.48 trillion rubles for the repair and maintenance of federal highway. According to the Kommersant publication, this amount is not enough to perform work provided for by regulatory acts. Experts believe that the allocated money will be enough only to carry out recovery work by about 60 percent of the federal road network.

According to the road activity plan approved by the government until 2030, the total financing of overhaul and maintenance of federal roads will amount to 2.48 trillion rubles. At the same time, according to the standards, another 1.73 trillion is needed to maintain federal routes. It turns out that the allocated funds are enough to restore and maintain only 58 percent of the highways.

Experts believe that in conditions of budget deficit, the authorities need to postpone the construction of new roads in favor of the repair of existing highways. Otherwise, some highways await complete degradation.
