There’s a queue for the updated Tesla Model Y

In the first 24 hours after the start of sales in China, Tesla received about 50 thousand orders for the restyled Model Y electric car, known as Project Juniper. Those who want to buy a Model Y now will have to stand in line: they will wait for their car until April or May, they say at Chinese Tesla showrooms.

On January 10, the day of the premiere in China, each of Tesla’s 300 local dealerships received an average of 100 orders. Car News China writes about this with reference to bloggers and sellers. Tesla itself has not yet disclosed the figures.

The updated Model Y debuted last week in China, while the pre-reform version is still available in the brand’s native USA. The Chinese are offered the Model Y in two versions – rear-wheel drive and Long-Range all-wheel drive. The cost is 263,500 (3.7 million rubles) and 303,500 yuan (4.3 million), respectively.

With the update, the best-selling electric car received a front end with a full-width DRL unit, reminiscent of a Cybertruck pickup, a monolight at the rear, new rims and a blue tint to the body. The equipment includes a 15-inch multimedia system display and improved sensors and cameras.

Mercedes electric cars will be able to charge 450 horsepower at Tesla Supercharger stations and the “face” of Cybertruck: the updated Tesla Model Y is presented. Look at the crazy hybrid of Jaguar Type 00 and Tesla Cybertruck

The single-drive crossover develops 299 horsepower, and the top version with two engines – 450. The maximum range is 719 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. The all-wheel drive Model Y should accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.3 seconds.

The choice of China as a launching pad for the new Model Y can be explained by impressive sales: last year Tesla sold more than 480 thousand units. This is five percent more than in 2023. In the United States, noticeably fewer were sold – approximately 406 thousand units.
