There’s a queue for the updated Tesla Model Y

In the first 24 hours after the start of sales in China, Tesla received about 50 thousand orders for the restyled Model Y electric car, known as Project Juniper. Those who want to buy a Model Y now will have to stand in line: they will wait for their car until April or May, they say at Chinese Tesla showrooms.

The updated Model Y debuted last week in China, while the pre-reform version is still available in the brand’s native USA. The choice of China as a launching pad for the new Model Y can be explained by impressive sales: last year Tesla sold more than 480 thousand units. This is five percent more than in 2023. In the United States, noticeably fewer were sold – approximately 406 thousand units.
