Toyota Rav4 bypassed Tesla Model Y in world sales

In 2024, the fifth -generation RAV4, also known as Wildlander in a number of markets, divorced in the amount of 1.187 million units. This is 11 percent more than in 2023, writes Carbuzz with reference to Jato Dynamics analysts. Tesla managed to sell 1.185 million copies of Model Y, and the demand for an electric car, on the contrary, fell by three percent. However, the struggle was tense: the difference in the results was only two thousand cars, that for the global market the number is small.

Toyota also took third place in the world list of bestsellers: the Corolla Cross or Frontlander crossover was sold in the amount of 859 thousand units (+18 percent compared to the result of 2023). The fourth line went to Honda CR -V (854 thousand cars, +1 percent), and the fifth -Toyota Corolla (697 thousand and -11 percent).

In addition, two more Toyota were in the top ten: the Hilux pickup and Camry sedan. And the ninth became Tesla Model 3 with 560 thousand units. There is one “Chinese” in “Top” – byd Qin, closing the top ten.

Both Rav4 and Model Y were seriously updated in 2025. The Japanese crossover changed the generation, gained a new appearance and became a non -alternative hybrid. He will enter his native market until the end of 2025, and on others will appear in 2026. Rav4 will be sold in 180 countries, and Russia, of course, is not in this list.

To spur the demand for Model Y, Tesla introduced the Juniper version with an increased march margin. However, Ilona Mask is experiencing an image crisis in many markets, including key ones, in the USA, Europe and China. Sales of electric cars are falling, and the updated Model Y was not an exception.
