A modernized painting line with “high-tech robots” was put into operation at the Ulyanovsk plant, Izvestia writes, citing sources in the company. Thanks to the new line, the quality of painting of both UAZ and Sollers light commercial vehicles will improve. The first cars painted using the new technology will roll off the assembly line in the coming weeks.
UAZ installed new equipment for priming the body of UAZ and Sollers models. It will improve the preparation of machines for applying paint and varnish and make the entire production process more efficient, they say at the plant.
Priming is now done by robots: they optimally distribute the primer over the surface of the body in two layers. A uniform coating should make the paintwork – the weak point of UAZ vehicles – more durable.

However, the main reason for the corrosion that SUVs suffer from is the low quality of the metal itself. On the flagship Patriot, rust appears both on the bottom and doors, and on the frame, as well as in the engine compartment. In addition, owners often encounter problems with electrical, suspension, oil leaks and rapid wear of various systems.
UAZ itself regularly reports improvements in production. So, in the fall, the plant talked about a new transfer case for “Patriots”, “Pickups” and “Pros” with adjusted part sizes.
