Uzbekistan authorities threaten to ban cars over 50 years old

From February 1, 2026, the operation and re-registration of cars manufactured more than half a century ago will be prohibited. That is, citizens of the country will not be able to use cars assembled before 1976. It is not specified what part of the national vehicle fleet consists of such equipment.

For particularly valuable vehicles, the republican authorities are simultaneously introducing the concept of “antique” cars, which will receive distinctive registration plates.

In order for a car to be recognized as an automobile antique, it must be in satisfactory external condition, as well as key components corresponding to the year of manufacture and model.
