The tasks are different, but both are large. Without a good manager, it is almost impossible to win a race in a modern rolling picture. The reason is that cars are always a little, but differ from each other. And this is a little, multiplied by the number of circles, often determines the separations between groups at the finish. The manager seeks to ensure that all the pilots of his teams are driving only on quick cars.
I tried on this role during the next festival of real-virtual races “Moscow Sport Cartsm Fest 2025”, which was held at the end of the May holidays. Earlier, I have already participated several times as a pilot in this unique competition, which is a mixed format – a parallel race on simulators and real cards. At some stages, our media team had catwalks, on others we received a refreshing soul of failures.

This time I decided not to get behind the wheel, but to stand on Pitlein with the benefit for business. It was necessary to master the cunning craft of monitoring and selection of cards, planning tactics, and conducting pit stops. Management in a broader sense is to assemble a team, motivate participants, plan and conduct training on maps and simulators. And also to think through the tactics of a real-virtual race, rent a radio communications, conduct the aforementioned picture part and trace the implementation of the general tactics of the team in the competition.
I performed most of the organizational tasks before, but in the narrow sense we always hired a manager separately. This made it possible to free up and focus on piloting. Well, of course, shift part of the responsibility – where without it. Now I had to carefully read the regulations, as well as to delve into processes that are not always obvious even to the direct participants in the race. For example, in the tactics of pitstopov. The main idea is that the teams that are unlucky on the draw with cars will try to hold a short first session and change faster. On the other hand, many are planting the most powerful pilots that successfully “roll out” even rather slow cars. And it is not difficult to leave, because it is impossible to call into a pitleyine occupied by an opponent. And so you can hold a circle after a circle, passing by a red traffic light. Because at the time of the liberation of Pitlein, another resting team may be physically closer to the entrance to it.
The manager must monitor the situation, keep the above and many other factors and quickly make correct decisions. Sometimes everything itself is successful, and it remains only to shout at the walkie -talkie “Change, change!” But most often you have to choose between compromises. For example, it’s safe to sit on an average car or take a chance and catch a rocket? The risk fee may be “overwhelming” or weak cards, if something goes not according to plan.
But how to take into account the quality of the map? About ten years ago, it was really difficult work: the managers looked at the cars still in training, evaluated their pace and noticed distinctive features to subsequently identify in the race: here the exhaust is a little crooked, here the stain of the paint on the lodge, there is an island on the steering column or Zazubrin on the body kit. Monitoring of cars on the highway shook his eyes, and quality accounting is in a notebook or tablet.
Only experienced masters of this business could perform such work at the highest level. Now everything is much simpler: constant rooms are glued on cars that are visible in the public telemetry Racemenn. To evaluate the cards, it is enough to understand how strong the pilot goes on it and watch the best and middle time in the session. And this time, in addition, it was lucky: right in front of our hound of stars on the same maps, Cartsem Junior arrived, so an approximate understanding where the “rockets”, and where I had “firewood” in advance. Yes, and the cards for the start of the draw were excellent-this even allowed the most part of the training, and even the least experienced team member to go more or less at a pace.
Often in amateur groups (like ours) that go more for pleasure than on the result, pilots have different experience, strengths and weaknesses and motivation. One must be supported, no matter what happens, because otherwise it will be pasted and will go even more slowly. Another must be angry, provoked, taken to weakly, tease with an opponent. To offer the third “Chelenge”-for example, get out of some time, put the best circle in the team or in the race for this. The fourth is better not to interfere.

The managerial part was generally successful: out of 4 cars, we had two missiles, one good and one just below the average with which I clearly made a mistake. To the credit of the card -park, the fleet in the race was even – more than half of the cars rode 0.2 seconds from each other, there were few missiles, and frank firewood was even smaller.
But the result at the finish is still weak – at the end of the table. Irregular training led to this (I recall the old saying “Racing without Trin – this is crap”), a small fine in the picture for a managerial error and a stupid turn in a simuresing. Right at the entrance to Pit Lane and performed … our fastest and most experienced virtualist!

And, of course, the high level of rivals. Each new cartsm organizers attract more and more young motorsport stars, most of which have not yet forgotten the skills of the picture and at the same time well “rolled” into the simulator. But many more age -related pilots regularly train and perform not only in adult series, but also in the largest rental picture championship MIKS. Therefore, the experience and motivation of the rivals are such that by chance, from the screech, they cannot be overcome.

On the other hand, the cartridge racing is a festival format where participation is more important than the result. For us, this is an opportunity to enjoy touching the world of a serious rolling picture and simuresing, which many of the rivals literally live. And even when the cups at the finish were not mined, each team member experienced himself and put valuable experience in a personal piggy bank. I better understood the race from a new side for myself – and I can use it in the future to act more efficiently.
Almost everyone can be a manager today (largely thanks to modern technologies), which is confirmed by practice when the riders of some teams take turns putting on the headphones and “lead” each other themselves. But a good, guaranteed effective specialist is still impossible to become without great experience and passion for this matter. Therefore, the manager is the same important part of the team as any of the pilots, because behind the wheel of a “bad” car, even a very fast racer drops his pace to the middle peasant.
