The SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture is preparing to release the Volkswagen Passat ePro plug-in hybrid. The power plant of this car will include a gasoline 1.5-liter turbo engine EA211, an electric motor and a traction battery with a capacity of 22 kWh.
From the published certification data it is known that the dimensions of the sedan will be 5017x1850x1489 mm with a wheelbase of 2871 mm. The power of the internal combustion engine is 129 hp, and the power of the electric motor is 197 hp. The declared total range is 1468 km.
In 2010, journalists from the British publication The Sunday Times set a Guinness record for driving range on one tank of fuel, driving a diesel Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion without refueling for more than 1,500 miles – 2,456.87 kilometers.
The car’s tank then held 77.25 liters of fuel, on which the car traveled from British Kent to the south of France and went back. The serial modification of the Passat B6 set a record – with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine producing 105 hp.
