Volkswagen prepares a new electric crossover for China: Details

While the German concern shared the teaser image of the ID concept. EVO, whose premiere will be held at the Shanghai Motor Show, but the serial version should be waiting in 2026. The crossover at Tiser was developed by Volkswagen together with the Chinese company Anhui, with which he has a joint venture in the PRC. So far, it is only known that this is an electric car, the “product” version of which will be produced at the same factory as the Volkswagen ID model. Unyx – under this name in China, the electrical version of Cupra Tavascan is sold.

The crossover is captured in the profile: it has a long embossed hood, very littered darkened front racks, a slightly sloping roof, smoothly passing into a short spoiler, as well as pixel optics. The latter gives the concert a futuristic look. Volkswagen notes that the design is as close as possible to the serial, and the name of the concept, ID. EVO is a reduction from “evolution”, which is designed to reflect the continuous transformation of the German brand.

In addition to the Volkswagen Anhui joint venture, two other joint enterprises in which the German concern will also show their show-kars at the Shanghai Motor Show. This will be a fully electric sedan developed together with FAW, and a crossover with a connected hybrid installation of EREV (Range-Extender) from the Volkswagen-Saic joint venture. All of them debut in the status of concepts, but in the next year they will turn into serial models.

All three models are developed as part of a strategy called “in China and for China.” It is expected that all three cars will have a lot in common – both in terms of design and technology.
