Volkswagen’s head of sales and marketing, Martin Zander, said in an interview that the company recently stopped accepting orders for the current Touareg. However, she does not intend to completely abandon the vacated niche.
“We are a brand for the people,” said Zander, “but the Touareg has its place, and that is why we are exploring opportunities to create the next generation.”
If the project is approved, the SUV will be fully electric and will be built on the PPE platform (which underpins the electric Porsche Cayenne) or the newer SSP.
By analogy with the “younger” Cayenne Electric, we can assume that the potential ID. The Touareg will have a traction battery with a capacity of about 113 kWh, support for fast charging up to 390 kW and a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with a power of about 435 hp. s, the portal reports.
However, in order to keep the price down, Volkswagen may offer a less advanced version. The timing of a possible debut has not yet been announced.
The fact that Volkswagen would cease production of the Touareg became known in August 2025.
