Watch Huawei’s robotic arm charge its own electric car

The Chinese IT giant Huawei showed an autonomous manipulator arm that can independently charge electric vehicles without driver participation. To demonstrate how the device works, the company published a video in which it automatically connects to a sedan [Maextro S800](https://motor.ru/news/maextro-s800-26-11-2024.htm). By the way, the S800 also parks itself.

The Maextro S800 luxury sedan developed by JAC and Huawei has a self-driving charging function. It can be activated remotely: the car begins to independently look for a place to charge and, having found it, parks itself.

However, there was one catch: the charging cable still needs to be connected manually. Huawei took on this problem, thanks to its solution a person can be completely excluded from the process. Payment will also be debited automatically after charging is complete, after which the car leaves.

The most advanced Huawei station with a power of 600 kilowatts was equipped with a demonstration robotic arm. In theory, it can charge a 100-kilowatt-hour battery in just 10 minutes.

The manipulator looks futuristic, but mass production, according to Car News China sources, is just around the corner: it could start as early as the second quarter of 2025. Smart cars BYD, Xpeng, Li Auto, Aito, JAC and Great Wall will also be able to charge at such stations.

Last week, an advanced Fengxing Short Blade battery was shown in China, the charge of which can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in just 8.5 minutes. This was achieved thanks to new battery cells with state-of-the-art cathodes and anodes.
