The hardest thing is for the owners of so-called orphan cars, whose official distributors have left Russia or have ceased to exist altogether. Sergei Parshikov, Deputy General Director for Service of the Avilon automobile group, told Motor magazine about this.

According to him, first of all we are talking about the brands Lifan, Zotye, Haima, as well as individual models Brilliance and Hawtai. Repairing such cars and finding spare parts often turns into a real headache for car owners.

“Lifan’s sales in the Russian Federation ended in 2022; in 2020, it went through the stages of bankruptcy. The auto company Zotye curtailed sales on the Russian market in 2021, Haima even earlier. For such cars, supplies of body parts, interior elements, electronics and large components are most sensitive. Here, the waiting period can stretch from several weeks to several months,” the expert noted.

Parshikov urged not to evaluate all Chinese car brands equally. According to him, the situation on the market has changed, and the key importance today is that the brand has a developed dealer network, a warehouse program, streamlined logistics and stable supply channels. Only in this case does car maintenance become predictable.
