The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied information disseminated in a number of media and Internet resources about alleged mass checks of elderly drivers by State Traffic Inspectorate officers, which were supposed to begin on June 1. The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General of Police Irina Volk, reported this on her Telegram channel.
“This news is not true. On the contrary, State Traffic Inspectorate employees provide assistance to road users, including elderly people who find themselves in a difficult situation on the road,” she noted.
Monitoring of drivers’ compliance with traffic rules is carried out within the framework of Order No. 264 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia dated May 2, 2023, recalled the official representative of the department.
