When choosing a car, buyers are increasingly focusing on the total cost of ownership, including price, warranty, service availability, parts costs and liquidity in the secondary market. As Roman Titov, Deputy General Director for Used Cars at Avilon Group of Companies, told Gazeta.Ru, it is these parameters, and not established stereotypes, that today determine the purchasing decision.

“If we talk about new cars, the most balanced today are the mass-produced and localized Chinese models: Tenet T4/T7, Haval Jolion and F7, Belgee X50/X70, Geely Coolray and Monjaro, Chery Tiggo, Omoda C5, Jaecoo J7. This is no longer exotic, but an understandable mass market with a dealer infrastructure, a guarantee and accumulated operation statistics,” the expert noted.

Titov included Russian and localized models in another segment of balanced cars: Lada Vesta, Lada Largus, Niva Travel, Solaris. The key advantages of these cars are affordable maintenance, an extensive dealer network, availability of spare parts and predictable operating costs.

Another type of profitable cars are cars from “departed” brands, supplied through alternative channels. Transparent provenance and a clear ownership history are important here.

Among the most balanced proposals, the expert singled out GLC/GLE, X3/X5, Cayenne/Macan, and in the mass segment – Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4 and Camry. According to him, the key selection criterion is not the country of origin of the brand, but the quality of the entire ownership ecosystem – from the purchase price to operating costs.
