The retro-designed Toyota features rear-hinged doors, a 2JZ engine and is produced in smaller numbers than most supercars. Carscoops reports this.
The Toyota Origin is an extremely rare four-door car for sale in Texas. Outwardly, it looks like it came off the roads of the 1950s, but under the retro body hides modern filling, including one of the most famous Toyota engines.
Specialty dealer Texas JDM is selling a 2001 Origin for $41,495 (approximately 3.2 million rubles). That’s a lot of money for an old Toyota sedan, but there’s a reason for it: only 1,073 examples were produced between 2000 and 2001, making the Origin one of the brand’s rarest production cars.
The Origin model was dedicated to Toyota’s 100 millionth anniversary car. The sedan’s appearance references the 1955 Toyopet Crown, which was Toyota’s first production passenger car and the first Japanese car to go on sale in the United States.
The front is highlighted by round headlights and a tall chrome grille, while the rear features curved pillars and jewel-like lamps. The panoramic rear window looks straight out of the 1950s, and the rear doors open backwards, like the original Crown.
