The new electric SUV will be a direct competitor to the Porsche Cayenne EV. It will have 600 kW charging, a 435-mile range, and will also simulate the sound and shifts of a V8, an engine it doesn’t have, Carscoops reports.

Mercedes-AMG’s new electric four-door GT has received mixed reactions from the public. Particularly heated debates flared up around its massive hood, rounded body lines and non-standard stern. However, even with this design the car could look worse.

Despite criticism on the Internet, AMG continues to actively develop the line. The plan is to release a high-clearance SUV version that combines the dynamics of a supercar with the practicality of an everyday car. The design of the AMG crossover will largely replicate the aesthetics of the GT sedan. According to renderings based on spy photos, the new product will have a taller and more spacious body with a low, Pan-American-style front end and a full-width LED strip. Large air intakes, sleek front fenders and a contoured hood give the model a dynamic appearance.

In profile, the car has a long wheelbase and a low roof, which gives it a stable appearance. Recessed handles, massive wheels and sculpted rear fenders work towards the same look. At the rear there are three-section lights, integrated into a more laconic black panel than the GT. The roof spoiler solves rather functional problems. The appearance of the active rear diffuser “Aerokinetics” as an option is still in question.

The interior of the new product will be largely borrowed from the GT sedan, but with a more spacious trunk. A 14-inch virtual instrument panel and a 10.2-inch multimedia display running on the MB.OS platform are expected. The MBUX multimedia system will also receive over-the-air updates, integrated services and artificial intelligence support.
