Audi will revive the A2, but not as you know it

We are talking about a compact electric hatchback, which will take the place of the most affordable electric car in the brand’s lineup.

The car will retain compact proportions and a short front overhang, but its design will be made in a calmer and simpler manner, without experimental solutions. In terms of its positioning, the new A2 should occupy a niche between the current A1 and Q2 models, which are planned to be removed from the line in the future.

Contrary to initial plans, to create the model, it was not the concern’s new architecture that was chosen, but the already well-proven MEB platform, which is also used on the Volkswagen ID.3. This platform includes rear-wheel drive and the ability to install batteries with a capacity of up to 79 kWh. The power of the power plant can reach 282 hp. Thanks to its streamlined body, the new A2 promises a range of approximately 595 km.

It is expected that the premiere of the new product will take place before the end of 2026, and the start of sales is scheduled for the beginning of next year. The estimated price of an electric car will be about 3 million rubles in Russian money.

The Audi A2 was produced from 1999 to 2005. The hatchback is known not only for its design, but also for its innovative design, which made extensive use of aluminum, but this model for Audi became a market failure.
