In open sales, the number of offers for motor oils has sharply decreased, and prices have increased by 40-60%. Some items are missing, and further price increases may double. This data is provided by Auto Mail with reference to representatives of the dealer community.

The situation is explained by the emerging shortage of base oils, which are necessary for the production of any lubricants. The share of the “base” ranges from 70% to 90% (sometimes up to 99%) of the total volume of finished motor oil.

The remaining 10−30% are additive packages that provide detergent, anti-oxidation, anti-wear, anti-corrosion, anti-foam, viscosity and anti-friction properties.
