BAIC cars sold in Russia will be finished with the SOS button

The Chinese brand notified car owners of the need to visit service centers for installing the ERA-GLONASS system. The campaign affects 18,559 cars manufactured in 2023 and 2024, and covers the entire lineup that is produced at the capacities of the Autotor Kaliningrad plant – U5 Plus, X35, X55, X7, X75 and BJ40.

An official distributor of BAIC cars in Russia reported the response campaign. It is clarified that the Era-Glonass system will be completed by cars that came off the assembly line of Autotor in the period from January 31, 2023 to July 14, 2024. Almost 20 thousand cars of Kaiyi Rolf dealer were withdrawn in Russia at once with two Chinese brands in Kaliningrad began the production of the BAIC BJ60 frame SUV.

Earlier, for the same reason, 19,752 Kaiyi cars, another Chinese partner of Autotor, fell under the review. Then, to install the SOS button, 1405 crossovers X7, 4799 X3 crossovers and 13,548 E5 sedans were sent to the services. All of them are also gathering at the Kaliningrad plant.

The Era-Glonass system is required for all cars that are produced in Russia and delivered to the country. In 2021, against the background of a deficiency of electronic components that are necessary for the production of the device, automakers were allowed to temporarily not install SOS-sknops, but with the condition that the machines should be completed in the future.

As in the case of the review of cars due to defects, the installation of the device is paid by the company, not a car owner. The regulatory authority is Rosstandart.
