Demand for LADA cars fell by a third

Against the background of the general reduction of the Russian car market, the domestic auto giant also suffers: according to Avtostat, for the second month of spring, the Russians bought 28,486 LADA cars, which is 32.6 percent less than in April last year – then 42,270 cars were sold. However, compared with March of 2025, demand slightly straightened, increasing by 13.2 percent.

The most popular model of AvtoVAZ remains Lada Granta, at which 13 thousand people were chosen. The second place is occupied by Vesta with 7.1 thousand realized units. Lada Niva Travel diverged in the amount of 3.1 thousand pieces, the classic Niva Legend – 2.9 thousand. Largus bought 2.3 thousand people.

For the ten most popular brands in Russia, a total of 76.8 percent of the market. These are eight of the most popular “Chinese” and “Koreans” collected in Russia under the Solaris brand. In April, they managed to implement 78.4 thousand cars together. The share of LADA was 27.9 percent, and nine other brands – 48.9 percent.

In general, over the past four months of 2025, AvtoVAZ sold 105,764 cars. This is 20.6 percent less than for the same period of last year, the indicator of which is 133,139 cars. At the same time, the share of LADA on the market increased slightly and amounted to 30.3 percent versus 28.5.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in April the Russians bought 101 401 a new passenger car, which is 25 percent less than in April 2024. At the same time, in comparison with March, the result is noticeably better, and the ministry believes that the market is “recovering.”
