The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) issued a warning to the President of the National Automobile Union Anton Shaparin. Experts believe that his comments are contrary to the Competition Law. Also, according to No Limits, experts from the Russian Fuel Union and members of the Moscow Fuel Association received warnings: it’s all about forecasts about gasoline prices.
Anton Shaparin responded to the FAS in an open letter. The president of the National Automobile Union said the authorities did not like the quote about a lack of government regulation and skyrocketing fuel prices. Shaparin also gave a forecast for 2025: according to his estimates, next year gasoline prices in Russia will rise by 15 percent.

Anton Shaparin noted that over the 11 months of 2024, inflation in the country amounted to 7.8 percent, and according to Rosstat, gasoline prices rose by 9.35 percent. His forecast for 2025 is based on open data: firstly, from January 1, 2025, the excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel will increase by 14-16%, which will lead to an increase in the price of a liter of fuel by about one ruble; secondly, the inflation rate according to the Ministry of Economic Development will exceed 4.5 percent.
According to Anton Shaparin, the National Automobile Union is a public organization and does not fall under the criteria of the Law “On Protection of Competition”. The last time experts gave a forecast about gasoline prices was in early December.
