The current legislation gives the motorist two options for reporting an incident – with or without photographic recording, recalled the President of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RUA) Evgeny Ufimtsev.

If the circumstances of the accident were recorded through a special application without disagreement, then the maximum limit of compensation under compulsory motor liability insurance will be equal to 400 thousand rubles, Ufimtsev clarifies.

If photographic recording was carried out, but there are disagreements between the participants in the accident, then the victim will receive no more than 200 thousand rubles in compensation payments.

When the consequences of an accident were not photographed, but there are no disagreements between private owners, the maximum amount of compensation will be 100 thousand rubles (Article 11.1 of the Law on Compulsory Motor Liability Insurance).

“Photo recording is required when you record the consequences of an accident without the participation of the traffic police and you have disagreements, in this case there will be no insurance payment without a photo,” the RSA president recalled.

It is important that the driver must photograph an accident using a mobile application and send the data to the information system within 60 minutes from the moment of the accident.
