We are talking about the Ainet robot, which was presented at the stand of the Kaluga region as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, said in an interview with the online publication Gazeta.Ru that the device is not intended for demonstration, but for real implementation in production processes.

“At our stand there is the Ainet robot – it’s not just a picture, it’s something that will become part of the economy and technological leadership of the Kaluga region tomorrow. It is able to recognize objects, carry heavy loads, handle logistics and free people from routine work on the assembly line. This is important for the automotive industry,” Shapsha said.

When asked whether car factories in the Kaluga region will be the first in Russia to have such robots, Shapsha replied that he is not aware of the use of such devices anywhere else in the country. The governor also said that all 30 enterprises of the automotive cluster located in the region are currently operating and assured that they are fully loaded, and there are no “frozen” sites among the automobile industry enterprises.

Vladislav Shapsha assured that the introduction of robots will not drive out any of the employees of automotive industry enterprises, which employ about 8 thousand people in the region.

“The industry is developing, new shifts are being launched, capacity is growing. We need people, but there aren’t that many of them. Therefore, we need to pay great attention to automation,” Shapsha noted.
