Such a statement was made by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin in his Telegram channel. According to him, by 2030, electric cars will be up to half of the Moscow taxi fleet, which is important “both for the ecology and for passenger comfort.” He also added that the transportation market was completely brought to the legal field, and the number of accidents over the past five years was reduced by four percent.
Now almost 200 thousand taxi cars are operating in Moscow and the region – about 15 percent more than a year earlier. What percentage of them are electric cars, Sobyanin did not specify. The average age of the car is 3.2 years, which, according to the mayor, makes the Moscow park one of the most “young” in Europe.
Last year, 1.73 million passengers per day were carried a taxi, which became a record. In just a year, 623 million people used the services of carriers.

Sobyanin added that since March 2025, certification has become compulsory for taxi drivers, and all working drivers of the region have already passed the exam. And from September 1, 2023, taxi orders are responsible to passengers.
Moscow is ready to supply taxi cars abroad: they are going to send a batch of 50 Muscovites to Cuba to form a local taxi fleet. Moreover, half of them are Moskvich 3 fuel crossovers, and the other half are electric Moskvich 3e.
