The District Court of New York brought 8 charges against Russian roofers Ivan Birkus and Angelina Nikolaou for conquering the Empire State Building. This was reported by Yahoo.News. As stated in the indictment summary, both face serious prison terms.

According to the publication, the court charged the couple with a number of charges under eight counts: burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal trespass to another’s property, violation of local laws, criminal falsification, disorderly behavior and use of burglary tools.

The incident itself occurred on July 1. Roofers, who gained great popularity thanks to blogs on social networks about various climbs, climbed the spire of the Empire State Building. At the top, Birkus proposed to his beloved. Together they hung a banner that read: “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” This event was recorded by cameras.

After returning to earth, both were arrested and taken to the Manhattan police station.
