The new seven-seater flagship SUV will compete with the Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Santa Fe and Volkswagen Tayron. Unlike the “square” Jaecoo 7, the new product received a more elegant and modern design, although some elements – the “waterfall” grille, large logo and LED strip across the entire width of the body – remained recognizable. Auto Express reports this.
The J8 is built on the same platform as the Chery Tiggo 9 and Omoda 9, which have already been introduced in 2025. UK versions are likely to get a Super Hybrid System plug-in hybrid powertrain – with an electric range of over 90 miles, according to Jaecoo. This range is made possible by a 34.5 kWh battery – even larger than the first Nissan Leaf. The battery powers two electric motors, paired with a 1.5-liter turbo engine and a three-speed transmission specifically designed for hybrids.
The official start date for sales of Jaecoo 8 has not yet been announced, but the wait is not long – the model has already appeared on the British website of the brand.
In Russia, Jaecoo has been renamed Jeland, while the cars are assembled at the former Korean Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg.
Earlier it was reported that Mercedes-Benz will present a short one based on the Geländewagen.
