Mercedes-Benz showed photos from tests of the new AMG electric crossover

The new product does not yet have its own name, but it is already known that the upcoming electric car will compete with the 918-horsepower Lotus Eletre R. The premiere of the Mercedes-AMG SUV is expected in 2026, and in 2025 an electric liftback, also built on the AMG platform, will enter the market . E.A.

The Mercedes-AMG division has launched a second model built on the new AMG electric architecture for testing. EA (AMG Electric Architecture). The yet-unnamed crossover is being tested in northern Sweden, near the Arctic Circle. Here, at extremely low temperatures, the performance of the power plant is assessed at the level of individual components and, as a rule, the operation of the mechatronics is checked. It is known that the future Mercedes-AMG SUV will receive electric motors with axial magnetic flux (they are lighter, more compact and better cooled than radial ones) and a new battery.

AMG platform. EA supports two- and three-motor systems with output over 1,000 horsepower. Mercedes’ own company Yasa will supply components to Mercedes, and, according to the British Autocar, the output of one such electric motor will be 487 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, the Mercedes-AMG SUV will easily surpass the Lotus Eletre R (918 hp, 985 Nm). It is promised ride height adjustment plus AMG Active Ride Control suspension, in which the role of anti-roll bars is performed by active hydraulic elements.

With this design, the racks are connected by hydraulic lines, the pressure in which, and therefore the rigidity, is regulated by special valves. Hydraulics compensate for rolls and dives, and using the AMG Active Balance Control function, which is found, for example, in the updated G-Class, angular rigidity can be adjusted at your discretion.
