MG announced the release of a new car that scans space

The image of the new product published by the company shows lidar. This device (laser radar) scans the space in front of the car and is part of modern driver assistance systems. The silhouette of the electric car is similar to the already produced petrol model MG7 and the German Porsche Panamera.

The MG brand, part of the large Chinese industrial concern SAIC, has released the first image of an all-electric sedan with a coupe-like silhouette. The prototype is equipped with lidar on the roof and semi-hidden door handles.

Externally, the car resembles the MG7 petrol sedan, as well as the Z7 model from SAIC. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed the name of the model, its technical characteristics, power reserve, launch date and price, and also does not confirm its connection with existing models.

The gasoline version of the MG7 is currently offered in China at prices ranging from 137.9 thousand yuan to 178.9 thousand yuan (1.5-2 million rubles). There are two engines available to choose from. The 1.5 turbo engine develops 188 hp. and 300 Nm of torque, 2.0-liter engine – 261 hp. and 405 Nm. This announcement was the first hint at the addition of MG’s electric vehicle lineup.

Previously, Chinese car companies captured 10% of the European car market.
