Motor has selected 5 reliable but unpopular cars priced up to 600 thousand rubles

The new Lada Granta now costs from 770,900 rubles. The editors of Motor magazine have collected five options for used cars that will cost less than the VAZ bestseller, but will also delight the new owner with high-quality interiors and reliable units.

Renault Symbol, 2nd generation (2008−2012)

When Russians want to buy a reliable Renault, they first start looking for Logan. But the problem with this model is that many examples have a taxi past. But the related Symbol (especially the second generation) was bought exclusively by private owners.

At the same time, Renault Symbol offers a truly reliable set of components, a dimensionless trunk, pleasant finishing materials and solid steel underbody protection – this radically improves the cross-country ability of a front-wheel drive sedan.

Moreover, it is better to choose cars equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission rather than a 4-speed automatic transmission AL4. Alas, this unit is very capricious: overheating, active driving style and lack of warming up in winter are harmful to it.

Skoda Octavia Tour

Skoda Octavia Tour, 1st generation (2008−2010)

From a design point of view, the Skoda Octavia Tour is deeply archaic. Before us are greetings not even from the nineties, but from the eighties. Therefore, having more than half a million rubles, potential buyers are considering more recent generations of the model.

And completely in vain. This is an extremely reliable car, ready to offer gasoline engines with output of 75, 102 and 150 horsepower, as well as an incredibly durable 1.9 TDI turbodiesel with 90 horsepower. The list of versions includes liftback and station wagon.

It is important to remember that the basic configuration included only a driver’s airbag. power steering and nothing else. Therefore, in order for the car to be equipped with at least air conditioning, you need to look for appropriate options.

Toyota Auris
Toyota

Toyota Auris, 1st generation, restyling (2009−2012)

Toyota Auris is the closest relative of the Corolla, but the sedan is in much greater demand, and therefore costs significantly more. We recommend paying attention to the five-door hatchback: it is more practical, but noticeably cheaper.

At the same time, a used Japanese car can boast of outstanding reliability compared to used classmates like Renault Megane, Chevrolet Lacetti, Kia cee’d or Volkswagen Golf – all of the listed options will definitely cause much more trouble.

It is curious that the top versions of the Auris have seven airbags, climate control and even a keyless entry system. However, even in the basic versions, the five-door has a good set of equipment.

Mitsubishi Galant
Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Galant, 9th generation (2003−2012)

It is now difficult to buy a well-preserved Mitsubishi Lancer of the ninth or tenth generation: there is a real hunt for cars. But the Mitsubishi Galant is in surprisingly modest demand, and therefore costs less than cars of a lower class.

At the same time, the mid-size sedan offers an excellent balance between dimensions, equipment and price. In addition, this car has other obvious advantages – well-proven ergonomics, a good chassis, a successful power unit and high ground clearance.

In the basic version of the lntense sedan, originally created for the American market, it is richly equipped: six airbags, climate control, a standard radio, heated front seats, cruise control and alloy wheels.

Nissan Teana
Nissan

Nissan Teana, 2nd generation (2008−2014)

Nissan engines hold their mark: the 2.5-liter VQ25 is ready to last 300-350 thousand kilometers, after which a relatively inexpensive overhaul will follow. But it is important to know that low-quality fuel “knocks out” oxygen sensors.

The main thing is that the Nissan Teana costs significantly less than the Toyota Camry V40, and has a comparable resource. A nice bonus will be the all-wheel drive from the Nissan X-Trail crossover (with a multi-disc clutch for connecting the rear wheels), but there are only 10% of such cars.

The Jatco JF011E V-belt variators, which Russians are afraid of, can actually last up to 200 thousand kilometers if handled properly. So the Japanese sedan looks like quite an interesting option for a limited budget.
