As part of the program for the restructuring of the business Re: Nissan, which should help him get out of the crisis, Nissan will get rid of two more sites. In the coming years, two Mexican plants will close their doors – Civac in Kuernavak, Morelos, and Compass in Aguamalentes. In general, the plan provides for the closure of seven of 17 enterprises belonging to the company.
At the beginning of 2026, the Compass plant (Cooperation Manoufacturing Plant Aguascalientes), which Nissan owns together with Mercedes-Benz, will stop operating. Infiniti QX50 and QX55, as well as the Mercedes-Benz GLB, built on the same “cart” are produced there. The site is relatively young – it was opened in 2017 and is able to produce up to 230 thousand cars annually. Together with the plant, the company jointly joint with the Germans will also go into the past.
The second factory, Civac, will continue until March 2027. Civac was launched back in 1966 and became the first Nissan enterprise outside Japan. Now the NP300 pickup (aka Frontier/Navara) for Latin America and the “state employee” of the Nissan Versa is underway there. In 2025, the plant plans to assemble only 57 thousand cars, although it is able to produce more than 300 thousand.

In addition to the Mexican sites, Nissan has already announced the closure of factories in the Japanese Oppam, the Argentine cordov and in India – where it is still unclear. Thus, five of the seven factories “departure” are determined.
