Renault may not get a chance to return to AvtoVAZ due to its own decisions

First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said that the actions of the French company, after leaving the Russian market, may deprive it of the opportunity to use the option for a return ransom. Renault stopped cooperative deliveries and, according to the authorities, intends to establish the production of drones in Ukraine. These factors, according to Manturov, will certainly be taken into account when making a decision.

According to Denis Manturov, the authorities doubt that Renault really intends to return to AvtoVAZ. In 2022, as part of an agreement on the departure of the French company from the Russian market, it was possible to return shares for six years. However, according to Manturov, in practice Renault does everything so that this scenario does not become a reality.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that Renault interrupted all production relations with AvtoVAZ and did not provide any support to the enterprise. In addition, the French company, according to the authorities, supplies equipment to Ukraine. The media reported on Renault to establish the production of drones in this country. Manturov emphasized that these actions will be taken into account when considering the issue of the possible return of the company to Russia.

At the same time, in mid -March, the head of Rostec Corporation, Sergei Chemezov, made the possibility of Renault return to AvtoVAZ capital. He noted that negotiations on this issue are not currently underway, but the idea remains relevant. Manturov then added that before using the option, the French side will have to discuss the conditions to which it was attached.
