Since the beginning of 2026, prices for used cars have fallen significantly. Vadim Chernousov, director of the used car sales department of the Rolf company, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta about this.
“This is felt most strongly in the middle and upper middle segments. Prices have decreased by 150-200 thousand rubles. For more economical models, the cost remained almost unchanged. I can point out the models for which the decline is most noticeable. These are Geely Monjaro, Toyota Camry, LiXiang L7, LiXiang L9. But, for example, the price for Geely Coolray has remained virtually unchanged,” the expert said.
Chernousov explained that the beginning of the year is traditionally a low season for the secondary market, and now is probably the best time to buy. According to his forecast, prices may begin to rise as early as February following an increase in demand.
“If the key rate does not change significantly and there is no shocking news for the market, then the increase in the cost of used cars will be proportional to annual inflation. I don’t think that the growth will be higher than 8-10%,” suggested a Rolf representative.
At the same time, Chernousov added that the situation on the new car market remains an important factor. Shortages and rising prices for new cars can support the secondary market, while stability or decline in the cost of new cars will put similar pressure on the prices of used cars.
It was previously reported that Toyota would switch to producing cars from waste.
