RSA advised motorists to have a printout of their MTPL policy

Car owners are advised to carry a paper version of their MTPL policy in case of restrictions on the Internet, the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RUA) told RIA Novosti.

Due to restrictions on the operation of the Internet, it may turn out that a traffic police officer will not be able to check the MTPL policy using his official Internet service. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RUA).

In the event of a stop by a traffic police inspector, motorists who have issued an electronic compulsory insurance policy are recommended to have a paper printout of the document with them – this will help determine that civil liability is actually insured.

On May 4, the “Big Four” Russian telecom operators warned of possible shutdowns of mobile Internet and SMS from May 5 to 9 in Moscow and the Moscow region for security reasons for the preparation and holding of festive events.

Restrictions also apply in other regions. Telecom operators send messages with the following content: “Currently, mobile Internet may be temporarily limited in your area, and the quality of voice communications is lower than usual. This is about ensuring safety.”
