The Association of European Businesses (AEB) has published data on sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia for April 2026. The market has shown significant growth compared to last year, but experts urge not to rush to optimistic conclusions.

According to a report based on information from PPK JSC, in April 2026, 117.2 thousand new cars were sold. This is 10.8% more than in April 2025. In the first four months of 2026, the market volume reached 372.1 thousand cars, which is 3.4% higher than the same period last year.

AEB Chairman Alexey Kalitsev called the April statistics “quite positive,” noting a revival in sales. According to him, the current dynamics are largely explained by the traditional spring growth in demand and the implementation of pent-up demand from previous periods.

However, the head of the committee emphasized that it is too early to talk about the formation of a stable upward trend. A number of constraining factors remain: high car prices, limited purchasing power of part of the population and general caution of consumers when making large purchases.

“However, we are observing certain changes in the market, which we will closely monitor in the coming months,” added Kalitsev.
