Sales of new electric cars in Russia collapsed by more than a quarter

The statistics of sales in the EV segment were shared by Avtostat. According to the agency, in May the Russians bought 786 new electric cars, which is 28 percent less than in the same month of 2024. At the same time, the share of “green” machines in the overall structure of the market is preserved at the same level and is 0.9 percent. The most popular model among electric cars in the country remains ZEEKR 001 – cars of this brand are supplied to us in parallel import.

In the rating on models, the first place was taken by Zeekr 001, which was sold in May in the amount of 126 copies. In second place the month was completed by the domestic Evolute I-Pro (111 pcs.), It is produced at the Motorinvest plant in the Lipetsk region. Next are the Geely EX5 and the Zeekr 009 minivan, having the same result – 51 pieces. Well, the top 5 zeekr 7x (48 pieces) closes.

In the march rating, the first place for Zeekr, the result of which at the end of spring amounted to 263 copies sold. Behind him, with a large margin, EVOLUTE (115 units), then Chinese Avatr (60 pcs.), Geely and BYD (54 and 43 pcs, respectively).

If we compare the result of sales of electric cars in May with April, then it is approximately at the same level – 786 and 793 cars, respectively. At the same time, in May 2024 more than a thousand electric cars were sold (1096 pcs.).

The main factor that restrains the growth of the number of electric vehicles in Russia is still considered an undeveloped network of charging stations. Earlier it was reported that in the number of chargers for electric vehicles, Moscow is the leader, but in terms of provision the first place in Nizhny Novgorod, where there are 11.23 electric cars for one terminal, and in the capital – 14.41 cars.
