According to Avtostat, the Russian fleet is aging – the share of cars over 10 years old has already exceeded 70 percent. The aging of cars leads to an increase in the expenses for repairs, which is also confirmed by the data of the Fit Service car service, which is referred by the Russian Newspaper. According to the study, according to the results of four months of 2025, large checks for repairs became more than 12 percent compared to the same period of 2024.

As of the spring of 2025, the average check for repairs is 50-55 thousand rubles, while in 2022 the repair cost 2.5 times cheaper. Fit Service quotes the following statistics: the number of machines with a zero average check increased by eight percent, and with an amount of up to five thousand rubles, decreased by almost a third. Those who leave 5-10 thousand rubles in the car service became 1 percent more compared to last year. The greatest dynamics was shown by machinery with an average check of more than 20 thousand rubles – their number increased by 12 percent.

It is worth noting that rising prices for spare parts, especially imported production, also contributes to the cost of service. In 2024, the prices of parts for foreign cars rose an average of 20-50 percent, and in 2025 an additional increase of 15 percent is expected due to a shortage of original spare parts and raising raw materials.

Thus, the aging of the fleet leads to an increase in the costs of repair and maintenance of machines, which affects the economy and availability of vehicles for the population.
