First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov inspected the pre-production Sollers S9 SUV. During this visit, it was announced that a pilot batch of machines had already been assembled and submitted for certification. Full-cycle production with stamping, welding and painting of bodies is scheduled for September 2026.
The project is based on the Chinese JAC JS9, and the production of both cars will be carried out by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, which is currently undergoing a major modernization for the sake of these projects.
A key step in preparation was the opening of a new press line that will stamp parts for all future models, including the ST6, ST8, ST9 pickups and the S9 SUV.
To assemble new products, UAZ built a separate conveyor. The SUV will have several differences from the original utility vehicle: an original interior, as well as its own engine calibrations.
Sollers
Up to the B-pillar, the SUV and pickup truck bodies are identical, but the SUV’s rear doors are larger and the rear is redesigned. However, the lights are unified, and the trunk is made according to a simple design – with a lifting door.
The length of the new product will be 5200 mm, width – 1965 mm, and height – 1920 mm. Under the hood there will be petrol and diesel engines mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
