In a conversation with Gazeta.ru, the Russian representative office of Suzuki (which is still operating) allowed a full return to our market – that is, the resumption of car supplies and sales. Moreover, the company has “all its processes in place,” so that when the time comes, “Suzuki will not keep you waiting.” However, this decision will depend on foreign economic and foreign policy factors.

“It’s difficult to make forecasts, but we, like many, are waiting,” the newspaper quotes a representative of the Japanese brand. — Due to the current state of affairs, the focus of Suzuki Motor Rus has shifted more towards after-sales and warranty service. Suzuki customers have access to support and roadside assistance programs, service promotions and campaigns.”

In the spring of 2022, after the start of the SVO, Suzuki, like other brands from “unfriendly” countries, put its business in Russia on pause – the Hungarian company suspended the production of cars intended for our market, and deliveries stopped. However, unlike most foreign automakers, Suzuki has not announced its final departure from Russia; the company has a representative office and provides post-warranty service.

A year later, in the spring of 2023, Suzuki held a dealer conference in Russia, where it announced its intention to maintain a presence in the country, albeit with limited functionality. New cars began to be transported through parallel imports, including from India and Japan.

Gazeta.ru notes that Suzuki is not the only one in “sleep” mode. There are other companies that have frozen financial activity and are waiting for the first opportunity to return to the Russian market.
