The NAMI Institute has issued a Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) for an electric motorcycle – the main certification document that allows mass production and mass sales of vehicles in Russia. Motor has read the document.
According to OTTS, the manufacturer of the Aurus Merlon electric motorcycle is FSUE NAMI. The length of the motorcycle with a sidecar is 2225-2275 mm, the width including the sidecar is 1859-1909 mm, the wheelbase is 1250-1290 mm.
The motorcycle with a side trailer is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum 30-minute power of 87 hp, its curb weight is 625 kg, and the range is 180 km. An additional traction battery is mounted inside the sidecar of the motorcycle, which increases the power reserve in cold weather and improves weight distribution.

As with Aurus cars, the name of the motorcycle is associated with the Moscow Kremlin. Merlon is the name given to a tooth of the Kremlin wall. NAMI began designing Aurus Merlon by order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2019. The main purpose of Merlon is year-round escort of motorcades of top officials of states and representatives of diplomatic missions.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported that Aurus was ready to accept private orders for Merlon, citing the company’s commercial director.
