The new Lada Azimut crossover based on Vesta is presented

The premiere of one of the most anticipated new products of AvtoVAZ took place as part of the PMEF-2025 forum, which takes place these days in St. Petersburg. So far this is not a serial option, but a prototype – to start the model in production, AvtoVAZ will take about another year. However, it is already known that Azimut will be offered in several modifications with 1.6 and 1.8 liters of increased power. The start of sales of the model is scheduled for 2026.

The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, emphasized that Azimut is the first new crossover in the Lada line in almost three decades. It was developed for three years with the efforts of Russian experts. “We have fully provided technological sovereignty of both the design of the car and its production,” he added.

As expected, Vesta’s “cart” was taken as a basis, but it was largely modernized. In particular, Azimut received a new rear suspension. For a crossover, almost a thousand original nodes and parts were created, including body panels, lighting equipment and interior elements.

The appearance of the crossover corresponds to modern trends-a massive darkened radiator grille, a high hood line, a completely LED optics and 18-inch wheels. Lada branded style with X-shaped lines received a new reading. The road clearance is 208 millimeters.

Azimut is promised that the options are not standard for brand models, for example, a panoramic roof with a hatch, heated side glasses, a two-zone climate control and a circular review chamber. The list of basic equipment will include a multimedia system with a 10-inch screen screen on an IPS matrix. The Lada crossover was the first to receive a new software platform with Sberbire services, including the Gigachat virtual assistant.

The motor line will include 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines – their return was increased to 120 and 132 horsepower, respectively. In the future, Azimut can also get a new turbo engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower in conjunction with a classic automatic. But the drive of the crossover will be exclusively front.

In AvtoVAZ itself, the new product is described as “the best offer in the ratio of price/quality in its segment.” Prices, as well as information about the trim levels, will be published closer to launch Lada Azimut in the market planned in mid -2026.
