While Lotus is preparing a new Esprit for 2028, the company offers to wait behind the wheel of its younger version – the updated Emira 420 Sport, reports Carscoops.
Lotus felt that the Emira wasn’t distinctive enough, so they decided to increase power, improve aerodynamics, add retro-style rear air vents and reduce the weight of the world’s fastest four-cylinder production car.
Power is provided not by the 400-horsepower (406 hp) V6 from Toyota, which is installed on the Emira V6 SE, but by the familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from AMG. This engine is already used on the 360 hp (365 hp) Emira Turbo and 400 hp Turbo SE. Both engines will soon be replaced by a new 3.0-liter V6 from Horse Powertrain.
Engine power increased to 414 hp, and torque increased from 480 to 500 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h was reduced from 4.0 to 3.9 seconds. Top speed has risen from 291 to 299.4 km/h, although the Turbo SE version was previously the fastest among four-cylinder cars.
